PARTNER EVENT: LGBT Leadership in the Workplace

LGBT Leadership in the workplace has been created to provide an insight into some of the barriers facing LGBT employees, and some of the benefits of engaging and investing with them. The event will also be utilised to outline and publicly launch Birmingham LGBT's unique programme, the LGBT Leadership Academy.


The event will include the following guest speakers:

Steven Skakel, Trustee of the Barrow Cadbury Foundation. 

Barrow Cadbury has been a core investor in the LGBT Leadership Academy. Steven will be introducing the event and providing some words on why Barrow Cadbury prioritise investment in this area of work.


Jules Bellingham, Board Member of Birmingham LGBT and independent Leadership Training Consultant

Jules Bellingham, Board Member of Birmingham LGBT and independent Leadership Training Consultant - Jules will be drawing on her experience as an LGBT woman and a Learning & Development consultant to provide an insight into some of the issues, barriers and considerations of being LGBT in the workplace.  Jules has experience as a manager and leader in both corporate and non-profit organisations.


Karen Egan, Business Development Manager and Kate Cooper, Head of Research - The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)

ILM provides national recognition for Birmingham LGBT's Leadership Academy and offers it’s learners studying membership with ILM through its partnership arrangements. Karen and Kate will provide an outline of the broader benefits of your staff undertaking leadership development and will be discussing some of the emerging research and trends regarding the benefits around cost savings and productivity of investment in LGBT employees.


Matt Daniels, LGBT Leadership Academy Consultant

Matt has worked for a number of years in leadership, consultancy and training positions across the public and charity sectors.  He was previously the Chair of the Board of Management of Birmingham LGBT and is currently consulting on the expansion and growth of the LGBT Leadership Academy.  Matt will be briefly outlining the LGBT Leadership Academy and application process.


The event will start at 3pm and will formally finish at 5pm when refreshments will be served and the opportunity for questions and networking will be provided between 5pm - 6pm.
