PARTNER EVENT: LGBT History Talk

  • Pinsent Masons 3 Colmore Circus Queensway Birmingham, B4 United Kingdom (map)

Our friends at Pinsent Masons invite you to attend this upcoming event introducing four extraordinary people from the 18th and 19th century who challenged the norms of sexuality and gender presentation.

You will hear from their guest speaker, Ric Morris, Manager at the ‘Piers & Queers’ LGBTQ History Tour in Brighton.

Ric's talk will introduce four extraordinary people from the 18th/19th centuries who challenged the norms of sexuality and gender presentation: the first person in European history to publicly transition to female; the only priest known to have carried out same-sex wedding ceremonies in ‘Molly Houses’ (precursors to gay bars); a woman whose diaries have been called ‘the Rosetta Stone of Lesbian history’; and a person who became Britain’s first female doctor by passing as a man.

The talk will be followed by an informal drinks reception.

Those interested should contact Andrew Kane at Pinsent Masons.
